| The
music in this show is played on fiddle by Polo (Ben's dad) and on renaissance
guitar, then banjo, by Valerie (Ben's mom). Ben's Canoe begins with 2 melodies from the "country dance tunes " manuscript : The English Dancing Master (edited by John Playford, 1651- ca.1728). Then, Appalachian fiddle tunes are played. There's also a popular English/American round, an original song, and a song written to a Playford melody that sounds so Appalachian, it would fool anybody ! |

| We sing the round " Row, row, row your boat " many times. It's fun when the audience sings along with us ! | |
